Privacy Policy

ChoBo ("ChoBo," "we," "us") makes a household chore-tracking app at getchobo.com. This policy explains what information the app touches, because the honest answer is: less than you'd expect from a typical app. There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no server-side database of your household's chores.

Where your data actually lives

Everything you enter — household members, chores, points, rewards, goals — is stored in your browser's local storage, on your own device. We don't have a server that stores it, can't see it, and can't retrieve it for you if you clear your browser data. If you use the household sync feature (Household or Lifetime plans), your data syncs directly between your own devices over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection (WebRTC) — it still doesn't pass through or get stored on a ChoBo server.

Setting up that peer-to-peer connection does briefly use a third-party signaling service (PeerJS's public broker) to help your devices find each other, the way any WebRTC-based app works. That service sees connection metadata needed to establish the link, not your household's actual chore data.

Payments

If you upgrade to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe collects what it needs to process payment (billing email, payment method, etc.) under its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy. We store a signed license token (proving you paid) in your browser — not a copy of your payment details.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — page views, referring sites, general location (country-level), and device type. It's cookieless and doesn't track you individually across sites. We don't use it, or anything else, to build an advertising profile of you.

Children's privacy

ChoBo is designed for a parent or adult household member to set up and manage — kids don't create accounts, enter contact information, or interact with anything outside the app itself. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Any names or avatars entered for household members are chosen by the adult setting up the household and stay on that device (or sync only between that household's own devices).

Your control over your data

Since your data lives on your own device, you control it directly: Settings has options to clear chore history or reset everything, and clearing your browser's site data for getchobo.com removes it completely. There's no account to delete because there's no account. Payment records held by Stripe are subject to Stripe's own retention and deletion practices.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
